Downtown Maple Ridge gets a makeover from private property owners

Certain property owners in the downtown retail district of Maple Ridge understand the value of a good makeover. While it is natural for tax payers to lean on the District for improvements to the community, the tax payers sometimes forget that, as a group, they far outgun the financial muscle of the District itself and that by combining their strenghts - as opposed to arguing and disagreeing over issues - they can get more done in a far shorter time than the politicians and bureaucrats ever will.

Here are two examples of what can be achieved by a property owner in a matter of weeks, and at a relatively low cost. It all boils down to pride of ownership and respect for one's surroundings.
