This week we heard from the CEO of the United States of America that immigrants to that great land should be required to speak English and sing the national anthem in English. This is a reasonable request and a laudable expectation.
The CEO, as the world knows, can put on a fine show of singing the anthem; it is, after all, scripted. Nonetheless, his progress with the spoken word in English has yet to reach a standard where English speakers in other countries can get the gyst of some of the points he tries to make from time to time.
George Bush expects others to speak English. Now that's rich.
